I appreciate M.I for so many reasons. M.I was the first to give a shout-out on how my articles was one of the best things in 2010, I believe. Lexx of Amebor.com brought that to my attention. M.I was also one of the first subscribers on Africa Music Law. I appreciate his support, although it doesn?t change my views on how I say and see things when it comes to his Loopy Records marketing/promotions & advertising that appear to conflict with the Chocolate City brand. Thank you M.I for the support.
I guess I should also take this time to shout out other industry people that have shown me much love when it comes to AML: Don Jazzy, Sasha P., Weird MC, Emem, Bobby Taylor (I like Bobby. She is one of my favorite persons in the industry. I can?t wait to meet her), Obiora Obiwon (another favorite person in the industry that I can?t wait to meet) Naira, Toni Payne, Duncan Daniels, Shakar El, X.O Senavoe, Kid Konnect (my fraternity brother (frat)) and the many emerging industry artists that write me often from Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya, primarily. Thank you all. If I missed you, don?t worry I?ll reach out when AML turns one (1) in August. Thank you all. I am glad my writings resonate with you all and you find it useful.
M.I granted an interview to Hip on TV and it looks like he alluded a bit to what Loopy records is all about. He also delves into the business of music. I like what he has to say about many things:
1. The need for the industry to maximize what we are doing within Nigeria so outsiders who want to engage us do so on our turf and on our terms;
2. Funding and the need to strengthen our intellectual property laws: royalties, collection agencies etc.
3. The importance of hardwork. M.I explains neither Banky W nor Omotola recognized him, back in the day, even when he stood right next to them. For Omotola, her bouncers felt he was in the way. Today, y?all know how the story ends.
4. Finally,despite all of his accomplishments, he continues to juggle the hats of music producer,artist and entrepreneur.
Watch the clip and be inspired to stay focused on your goals, whatever they maybe.
