UN Global_Compact_logoJune 23 - The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) has become an official member of the United Nations Global Compact, the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world.

The not-for-profit organisation based in Doha, Qatar, aims to promotes best practice in sport, security and integrity and has joined the Global Compact to further this objective.

Run by the United Nations (UN), the Global Compact, with over 8,700 corporate participants and stakeholders from over 130 countries, encourages supporters to find solutions for the biggest challenges facing business and society.

One such challenge is overcoming corruption in sport ? an area the ICSS already works hard to counter.

President of the ICSS, Mohammed Hanzab, said: "The ICSS is already strongly engaged in the...fight against corruption.

"Through our ongoing initiative with the Sorbonne University, which looks to proactively address the threat of sport results manipulation and match fixing, I hope that the ICSS will be able to promote...the UN Global Compact throughout the sporting community."

As part of its Global Compact membership, the ICSS will have access to additional knowledge and expertise across a range of key stakeholders, as well as a wide spectrum of management tools and resources.
