Nonprofit Credit Counseling Agency Announces Free Help Available for South Florida Homeowners to Avoid Foreclosure

Lighthouse Point, FL (PRWEB) ? ?Debt Management Credit Counseling Corp,?a nonprofit organization (DMCC), announced today that it still has grant funds available from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide?free foreclosure prevention assistance?to homeowners in Broward County and Palm Beach County, Florida. DMCC was awarded a grant in March as part of more than $42 million in housing counseling grants awarded by HUD to 468 national, regional and local organizations. Homeowners interested in taking advantage of this free service should contact DMCC immediately while funding and resources remain available.

DMCC housing counselors will review all options to avoid foreclosure with the homeowner and recommend the option that best meets their financial situation. If obtaining a loan modification is a recommended solution that the homeowner desires, DMCC will help the homeowner prepare and submit the required documents to their lender. ?Our goal is to identify all available options for the homeowner to avoid foreclosure, and assist them in implementing the option they choose?, said Jeremy Montanti, DMCC Housing Director.

DMCC provides this service free of charge to homeowners, along with personal budget counseling and other financial education.?Debt management plans?to assist consumers with the repayment of credit card accounts are also available. Lower credit card payments obtainable through debt management plans, combined with budgeting, is an option that may provide sufficient relief for homeowners to enable them to afford their monthly mortgage payment.

In order for homeowners to maximize the options available to them to avoid foreclosure, it is imperative that they seek assistance as soon as they know they will not be able to meet their mortgage payments. Once a mortgage lender commences foreclosure proceedings, many options cease to be available. DMCC cautions that homeowners who have already received a foreclosure notice from their lender with a Date of Sale are recommended to seek legal counsel for assistance. Homeowners wishing to take advantage of this free service should contact DMCC at 866-618-3328, Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm ET or Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm ET, and ask to speak with a housing counselor.
