An Account Of Drug Rehabilitation Los Angeles | New Health and ...

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

Independent of the gender or age, Los Angeles is one of the most populous cities in California State of the USA. It is a chamber of commerce and as such is well developed in terms of infrastructure. However, just like many other thriving and flourishing cities not only in the USA but also in other parts of the world, it faces the drug abuse epidemic. However, this has been put under check with structures such as drug rehabilitation Los Angeles in place.

Drug abuse may simply be defined as misuse of substance in a manner not prescribed by a medical practitioner. It is rampant in the Americas and throughout the world. One of the driving forces behind its development is the belief that the use of drugs and especially alcohol releases stress and tension. Also peer pressure, the media, strong desire and urge have been cited as causative agents.

This vice has often brought about negative effects upon the abusers. To begin with, it requires a lot of financial resources. Nevertheless, it has often led to decadence of morality. It has been cited as one of the most causers of HIV AIDS and other STIs.

Many families have not been able to stand the strong forces of drug abuse. It has been a chief causer towards family separations and relationship break ups. It has also led to a sense of hopelessness and despair among the victims.

There are several rehab centers that have been set up here to help in conquering this evil that has been raging like fire. They have served a number of purposes. For example, they provide forums through which the abusers are advised soundly on corrective methods.

Therefore drug rehabilitation Los Angeles has saved a great deal in ensuring that those that have been tied by the ropes of drug abuse are set free. The government plus all the other relevant stake holders must thus ensure that they are supported in all the ways such as financially and even morally.

Compal Trinity ODM reference design eyes-on

Here at AMD's Financial Analyst day, the company had a little demo area which is where we spotted this little number -- an ODM reference unit from Compal, stuffed with the company's upcoming Trinity APU. We're told the unit above is one of several, which are proof-of-concepts used to convince and show OEMs powerful, yet thin machines the duo hopes they'll bring to market. Inside this particular prototype is one of the lower voltage variants of Trinity (read: either the 17W or 25W part), which enables that svelte 18mm profile. Seeing as it is a one-off (and one that'll never come to market in this form), our impressions are moot, yet we'd be remiss if we didn't point out we were a little dismayed by its chassis, which was flimsy enough to put the existing flex champion, Toshiba's Z830, on notice. Still, with an estimated starting price of half an Ultrabook (roughly in the $500 to $600 range), we'll leave it up to you to decide exactly how much you value torsional rigidity. Other then that, viewing angles seemed good from the brief demo reel we watched, and there's plenty of connectivity onboard, with two USB 3.0 ports, mini-DisplayPort and HDMI flanking the left, followed by audio jacks, another USB, Ethernet and power along the right. Looks like thin and lights are about to get a whole lot more interesting later in the year, which, frankly is great -- it's about time Chipzilla got some worthy competition.

Love those cars ads? Buyer beware

By Herb Weisbaum, The ConsumerMan

Automakers are betting tens of millions of dollars they can score big with their Super Bowl commercials. Expect to see more than a dozen car ads during Sunday?s telecast.

?Most of the Super Bowl commercials are a lot of fun,? says Philip Reed, senior consumer advice editor for Edmunds.com. "Just keep in mind that the car you're looking at in the commercial may not be the car you find on the dealer?s lot.?

Reed says you need to separate the hype from reality because ?car ads can lie.?

Here are a few of the common tricks to watch out for:

  • Show the top trim, but advertise the base price: Automakers feature top-of-the-line models in their commercials but often display the price of a base model ? which can be thousands of dollars less. They get around this by saying ?starting at? or ?base price.? But the message can be confusing. What you see is not what you get at that price.
  • Boast unrealistic mileage: The figure on the screen is probably the highway mileage, which is always higher than the overall mileage. And this is the mileage you can only get under the best conditions. In some cases, the small print may explain that the mileage displayed is for a different version of the car than the one shown in the ad, one with a smaller engine or no options. Remember, your mileage will vary.
  • Lease payments that are too good to get: The new benchmark in lease payments is $199 a month, an amount that seems affordable to most customers. To get that low payment, you?ll have to pay potentially thousands of dollars for taxes, title and license, and possibly a down payment of $1,000 to $4,000.

You can learn about new cars, various features and special bargains by watching TV commercials. Just don?t get swept away by them. You need to do your homework before you start seriously shopping.

?Even the savviest consumer can be seduced by a TV ad,? Reed says. ?My advice: take a cold shower before you really start thinking about buying one of the vehicles you see advertised during the big game.?

Branden R. Williams, Business Security Specialist ? Hardware ...

February 1st, 2012 by Branden Williams

RSA Conference is right around the corner, and I?m excited to actually be able to see some talks this year. I?m on a panel with Dave Navetta and Serge Jorgensen on Tuesday covering the Dark Side of a Payment Card Breach (LAW-107, Room 131, 2:40pm). I am sure if you are there, we will bump into each other somewhere along the way!

Soft Landing, by moonjazz

One of the topics that I want to explore with other security folks while I am there is a shift to hardware-focused exploits whereby you bypass software and focus on firmware to control machines. It?s not a new concept and has been seen in both theoretical and actual attacks on systems. But as software vulnerabilities are closed, the bad guys have to come up with new ways to get into systems. It doesn?t have to be super creative or advanced to be effective. It could be as simple as tricking a device to ?update? its firmware with one you have crafted, thus giving you full control over the device.

This becomes particularly critical when you look at devices that have simple but important functions and are rarely touched by technicians. Things that are out in the field like smart meters, pump controllers, payment terminals, and traffic lights. Some people might choose highly technical and specialized attacks that include drilling tiny holes and snaking wires into the hardware, but if you can figure out how to replace its firmware with yours you can effectively scale the attack remotely.

The outcomes vary greatly from nuisance to data theft to cyber-terrorism. Bricking my DVD player is a nuisance, shutting down a town?s water supply is an entirely different matter. If I can compromise a peripheral hardware device, what does that get me? Am I just messing around with a display device? Or am I in the system at a base layer that invalidates software security controls?

Brandi Glanville Says Eddie Cibrian Will Cheat on LeAnn

Brandi Glanville isn't shy about her feelings that the adage "once a cheater always a cheater" applies to her ex-husband Eddie Cibrian. Mick Foley on "Celebrity Wife Swap"

WWE Universe, Mick Foley stars on the season finale of ABC?s new hit show, Celebrity Wife Swap! On the hour-long reality show, Foley will ?swap? wives with actor Antonio Sabato Jr.

Take a peek at the household manual put together by Mick?s wife, Colette, on abc.com, for Sabato?s fianc?e, Cheryl. She introduces the family?s ?new mom? to the four Foley children ? Dewey, Noelle, Mickey and Hughie ? as well as an untrained puppy named Randall.

The extensive handbook covers everything from the Foleys? guidelines about ?Chores,? ?Daily Routines? (including packing for the family?s move from Florida to Long Island, N.Y.) and ?Appearances.?

?Mick will go down in history as the world's most thrifty and bling-less person in and out of the ring and never was one for the fast lane!? Colette writes about her husband.

The manual also reveals that budding standup comic Foley is also into an unexpected hobby ? scrapbooking!

?Another activity that Mick and the kids love to do together is scrapbooking. They use family photos and decorate the pages with stickers to tell stories. It's a sweet pastime of my husband's and I'm glad to have so much documentation of our family life,? Foley?s wife explains.

Colette also presents a ?To-Do? list for Cheryl, which includes:

  • Go to one of Mick's comedy shows.
  • ?Videotape and help create characters for the family wrestling matches.
  • Try giving Mick a fashion make-over. "Repackaging" Mick might be a sore subject for him, but he is so easygoing that he might let you. However, don't be surprised if the moment you turn your back, he "Mickifies" your hard work by messing it all up.

While Colette says there?s not much time for rules in their house, she calls the Foleys ?one big, loving and dysfunctional family.?

How will Cheryl fare when it comes to trying to restore order to the chaotic Foley house? What challenges will Colette encounter when tasked with running the young Sabato house, which includes a busy 9-year-old and a 3-month old who needs nearly-around-the-clock care?

Shares firmer, euro steady ahead of factory data (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) ? Stocks rose and the euro steadied on Wednesday as investors remained on guard ahead of the release of manufacturing surveys from the Europe's biggest economies after China's powerful factories showed a slight expansion.

The Chinese manufacturing sector grew modestly in January, with an official PMI reading inching up to 50.5 from 50.3 in December, beating the 49.5 forecast and lifting Asian stocks and commodity-linked currencies.

Euro zone Purchasing Manager's Indexes are expected to show the region still on track for a modest recession as its debt problems hit consumer and business confidence, although Germany should stand out, staying on track for small expansion.

Across Europe stock markets started firmer with the pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 (.FTEU3) index of top shares up 0.3 percent at 1,040.81 points.

"The probability of the euro zone debt problems turning into a global financial crisis has receded considerably and the risk of global growth grinding to a halt is low, but that doesn't change the main scenario for an economic slowdown generally," Takao Hattori, senior investment strategist at Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities in Tokyo said.

The euro slipped slightly after no concrete progress was made in the debt restructuring negotiations between the Greek government and its private bond holders. The single currency was off 0.2 percent at $1.3050.

"The euro's inability to push through technical resistance around $1.3244, disappointment from the EU summit and concerns about Greece and Portugal are causing euro/dollar to pull back," said Niels Christensen, currency strategist at Nordea in Copenhagen.

The dollar (.DXY) was slightly firmer against a basket of major currencies but hovered at three-month lows against the yen under pressure from interest rate differences as traders focus on the prospect of more quantitative easing by the Federal Reserve.

The MSCI world equity index, which has enjoyed a strong start to the year, seeing a rise of nearly six percent in January, was virtually unchanged at 316.4.

Europe's debt markets will be watching the outcome of Germany's auction plans to sell up to 5 billion euros worth of 10-year government bonds later in the day in a test of whether safe-haven demand is strong enough for Bund yields to revisit their record lows in the near-term.

German bond prices were little changed ahead of the auction.

Later in the U.S. the ISM manufacturing index is expected to confirm further improvement in factory output at the start of this year.
